ASAE Purchases Convene Green Alliance: Adding CGA to portfolio of social responsibility initiatives
Thursday, December 02 2010
WASHINGTON—ASAE has enhanced its commitment to environmental sustainability by purchasing the Convene Green Alliance (CGA) from IMN Solutions, an association, foundation and meeting management company.
IMN Solutions created the CGA in 2008 based on a powerful vision to launch an organization that would advance green meetings, develop best practices and share good ideas. Leaders of 16 major associations founded CGA, and it has grown to more than 1,000 individual members representing hundreds of associations, as well as more than 40 corporate partner members.
CGA has created and developed a wide range of resources to support the burgeoning interest in green meetings, holding regular "Focus Forum" events in the Washington, DC area featuring leaders in the green meetings arena who share ideas and success stories. CGA also provides a wide range of best practices and resources on its website, www.convenegreen.com.
"ASAE has a longstanding commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, and adding CGA to our portfolio enhances this area of service to the association and meetings profession," said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, CAE.
Jack Sammis, President and CEO of IMN Solutions, added, "CGA was born from the association and meetings community that ASAE represents, so it is logical that it now become part of ASAE. We believe that ASAE has a powerful brand in the meetings industry and the resources to make CGA even stronger by expanding CGA's 'go green' mission to its members."
Sammis also pointed to ASAE's enthusiasm and advocacy for green meetings, as demonstrated by its commitment to environmentally sustainable practices for its Annual Meeting & Exposition and other events, as a factor that will help CGA grow.
The sale was completed November 29, 2010. ASAE is now in the process of assessing CGA programs and resources before announcing specific program initiatives.
